Frequently asked questions
Common questions about engagements, access and the services we provide.
Working with WITSB
Do you work remotely?
Yes. Most work is remote for businesses across the United States. On-site work is available in the Denver area.
What kinds of engagements do you take?
Remote hourly work, monthly retainers, on-call coverage, emergency incident response, fixed-scope projects and on-site work in Denver. See How we work for details.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the engagement type, scope and urgency. Send a short description of what you need and we will reply with a quote.
How quickly do you respond?
We aim to reply to new enquiries within one business day. Response targets for on-call clients are agreed in writing as part of the retainer.
How do you access our systems?
Through whatever you already use, such as a VPN, bastion host, SSO or a privileged-access tool, with the least access needed for the work.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes. NDAs and your security and compliance requirements are part of starting most engagements.
DevOps & CI/CD
Can you work as part of our existing team?
Yes. We work in your repositories, ticketing system and chat, follow your review process and leave documentation behind so your team owns the result.
Do you offer fractional or part-time DevOps?
Yes. A monthly retainer with an agreed block of hours is a common way to get ongoing DevOps capacity without a full-time hire.
Software Engineering & Integrations
Can you work in our existing codebase?
Yes. We work in your repositories and follow your branching, review and release process, and leave documentation behind so your team owns the result.
Can you connect our file transfers to our applications?
Yes. Integrating MFT workflows with applications, databases and APIs is a common request: picking up files, transforming them and loading them where they are needed.
Managed File Transfer (MFT) & SFTP
Can you take over administration of our existing MFT platform?
Yes. We start with a review of the configuration, partners, jobs, keys and certificates, document what we find, and then support it on an hourly, retainer or on-call basis.
Do you help migrate from one MFT product to another?
Yes. Migrations are planned partner by partner: inventory, mapping of workflows and credentials, parallel testing with each partner, and a cutover plan with a rollback path.
Can you work in regulated environments?
Yes. We have worked in health insurance, employee benefits and payment-processing environments, and we follow your security, access and change-management processes.
On-Call & Incident Response
Can you help with an outage that is happening right now?
Call or email with what is down and how we can reach the system. Emergency work is billed hourly and starts once access and scope are confirmed.
How does on-call coverage work?
We agree on hours, systems, escalation contacts and response targets, gain secure access ahead of time, and prepare runbooks so incidents are handled quickly and consistently.
Cloud Infrastructure
Which cloud provider should we use?
It depends on your existing tools, skills and requirements. We work across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud and will recommend the one that fits, not a default.
Linux & Windows Systems Administration
Can you upgrade an old server without downtime?
Often, yes, or with a short planned window. We take backups first, test the upgrade path and keep a rollback option ready.
Network & Security
Do you work on-site?
Network work in the Denver area can be done on-site. Elsewhere, we work remotely with your local staff or vendors handling physical installs.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
How often should restores be tested?
At least after every significant change and on a regular schedule agreed with you. We help set a schedule that matches how critical each system is.
Have a different question?
Send it over. We are happy to talk through your systems and options.
